New Tiled Roof Installation | Watford
Project Overview
We recently completed a full new tiled roof installation in Watford, transforming an ageing roof into a modern, weatherproof system built to last.
The existing roof had reached the end of its lifespan, so a full strip-back was carried out. All old tiles and underlay were removed to expose the roof structure, allowing us to inspect the timbers and ensure everything was sound before rebuilding.
Preparation & Roof Structure
Once stripped, we installed a high-performance breathable membrane across the entire roof. This acts as a secondary barrier against water while allowing moisture to escape from inside the property, helping to prevent condensation and long-term structural damage .
Timber battens were then fixed across the roof, providing the framework for the new tiles and ensuring consistent spacing and alignment throughout.
Valley Installation & Detailing
A key part of this project was the installation of a new GRP valley system, which is critical for directing rainwater safely off the roof where two slopes meet. Valleys are one of the most vulnerable areas for leaks, so getting this detail right is essential for long-term performance.
Leadwork and flashing details were also carefully installed around roof junctions and penetrations. Flashing plays a vital role in preventing water ingress at joints and edges, ensuring a watertight finish .
Roof Tiling & Finishing Touches
With the structure complete, we installed new roof tiles across the property, ensuring everything was:
- Properly aligned and securely fixed
